McNally Jackson Is Opening a Store at the South Street Seaport

Often one of the names people cite when they argue that, "no, independent bookshops aren't doomed to be a casualty of NYC's chain store–ification," McNally Jackson is living up to its reputation. DNAinfo reports that owner Sarah McNally will open another store at the South Street Seaport sometime in 2017.

In addition to the original Soho location and her office supply-focused offshoot Goods For the Study, the new store will have free events, a children's reading area, and a café complete with outdoor seating.

"I can't imagine a better setting for a bookstore than the old buildings of Schermerhorn Row," McNally said. "It will be thrilling to sit in the deep sills of those old windows, surrounded by books, looking out over the cobblestone streets to the river and the Brooklyn Bridge." It'll be joining the likes of William Okpo and Seaport Studios.
