Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Update: Nordstrom Rack will not be coming to this development after all—a follow-up article from the New York Post reports that Raymour & Flanigan is taking the last available retail space. The original story is below.

This isn't exactly the way that Nordstrom Rack wanted to make its grand entrance into Harlem. The New York Posts reports that debt broker Meridien Capital Group ran an ad in their paper on Sunday that featured a rendering of the six-story shopping development currently under construction at 100 West 125th Street. The rendering included signage for several confirmed stores there, like Whole Foods, American Eagle Outfitters, and Burlington Coat Factory—along with an unconfirmed Nordstrom Rack on the second floor.

A representative for Nordstrom denied to the Post that a lease has been signed, but it had previously been rumored that the company had been looking to place a discount store there. Plus, it would fit right in with the H&M and Marshall's that are already on the block. It would be the fifth Rack store in the five boroughs (with Downtown BrooklynFlushing, and Gateway Center opening within six months of each other last year), not including the Empire Outlets store coming in 2016.
