We dropped by the Fivestory sample sale yesterday evening to check out how the stock has fared since opening day. The racks look a bit less packed, and many of the styles we saw were only available in one size. The setup is still the same, with shoes and clothes going for 60% off retail prices near the front while items for 80% off are at the back. The selection is certainly dwindling down—especially when it comes to sizes—so drop by as soon as you can to grab a great deal.
The styles going for 60% off are generally a little nicer, and there is certainly less damage to be found among those racks. On the higher end, we saw a Jason Wu trench for $918 (was $2,295), a Mary Katrantzou sleeveless alphabet-print dress for $990 (was $2,475), and a black and white Balmain raffia pencil skirt for $1,018 (was $2,545). "Cheaper" styles included a Narciso Rodriguez laser-cut crop top for $111 (was $279), an Alexander Wang bomber jacket for $466 (was $1,195) and a Lyn Devon suede dress for $630 (was $1,575). Also, shoutout to a crazy pair of Rosie Assoulin snap pants covered in pastel buttons for $1,318 (were $3,295).
In spite of small stains and snags (that are totally fixable, by the way) the 80% off section is hard to argue with. The larger back section included a Acne twill skirt for $64 (was $320), an Anthony Vaccarello leather shirt for $563 (was $2,815) and a Roksanda Ilincic dress for $302 (was $1,510).
The shoes here have taken a serious hit, with both sections only having sizes 35—36 or 39—40, generally. We did see Giambattista Valli buckle loafers for $203 (were $1,015) and Nina Ricci ankle boots for $194 (were $970) at 80% off, while Giambattista Valli metallic flats for $278 (were $695) and strappy Gianvito Rossi heels for $380 (were $950) are in the 60% off section.
For menswear, there are still a few neckties for $30 (were $150), as well as Mark McNary shoes for $72 (were $360) and John Lang sweaters for $109 (was $545). The center table still has oddities like a Lladro teapot for $100 (was $500), and the accessories section still includes jewelry for 60% off. There's just a few purses left to browse, like a Narciso Rodrigeuz shopper bag for $519 (was $2,595).
There's still no word on whether this sale will see any further markdowns—it hasn't happened at the past, but with 260 Sample Sale playing host for the first time, it's up in the air. Check out the sale's remaining hours (it runs through Sunday) in the Dealfeed below.
