We stopped by the Oak warehouse sale this afternoon to find a small but calm crowd of shoppers picking through the selections in the Bond Street store's basement level, and most of what we predicted was true: Most of the apparel for men and women is black, and sorting through the sample bins in the middle of the floor is indeed messy. However, the things that we were most drawn to weren't as cheap as we had hoped.
For the best bargains, start with the cardboard boxes on the floor, which are priced as marked between $5 and $170. Note that since we did see a customer or two discard some items all into one bin before checking out, you might want to check with a sales associate that the item you have is indeed the price you think it is. $10 will only get you gray, white, and black tank tops from the house brand's lower-priced label, A.Ok (or a pair of sunglasses, found in the back of the room).
Otherwise, pickings were slim here but there are some gems to be had, ranging from a summery $5 black-and-white peplum tank top to a wintery, super-heavy long wool pea coat for $100. We don't know what restocking will be like for samples, but we do know that these boxes certainly aren't full at the moment. Behind the sample boxes are piles of denim in every size and wash, meaning you'll have to dig to find exactly what you're looking for.
Our favorite pieces at this sale were on the racks, where everything is 60% off the ticketed price (ignore the colored stickers that some tags have—they truly mean nothing). Unfortunately, 60% off doesn't do much to make a $1,195 Jonathan Simkhai peplum leather dress or a $968 Avelon perforated leather top affordable. But it factors in nicely with Won Hundreds Beetlejuice-esque bell bottoms (now $95.20), a Daniel Palillo sweatshirt that reads "BLAH" (now $107.60), and a one-piece swimsuit from Kore with plenty of mesh detail (now $105.60).

Stop in this weekend to take advantage of the cheap sample boxes, and plan another trip for a week or two down the road, when the rest of the merchandise is hopefully discounted further. This sale is taking place at 28 Bond Street during regular store hours—11am to 9am Monday through Saturday and 11am to 8pm on Sunday.
