Hermes' First-Ever Perfumerie Will Include a Bodega-Scented Candle

Despite having existed for 178 years, Hermès has never opened a store dedicated solely to its perfume and beauty line—until now. Come August, luxury mall Brookfield Place will house the brand's first perfumerie in its history, touting scents like Voyage d'Hermès and Un Jardin sur le Nil, the popular Le Bain bath, body, and haircare line, as well as a new, NYC-specific candle devoted to—what else—bodegas.

Located in a 1,000-square-foot space with "neutral tones of concrete, marble, leather, and touches of fine woods," the store will also feature projections of trees and plants to create the illusion of a "concrete jungle," WSJ reports. "It's like a really small apartment with a garden," store designer Denis Montel told the paper.

Also exclusive to New Yorkers: a candle called "The Shop Around the Corner" (not to be confused with Meg Ryan's bookstore in You've Got Mail). "The fragrance is really dedicated to New York," said perfumer Céline Ellena of the scent, which contains flowers and eucalyptus. "Everything moves really fast, but sometimes, suddenly, time stops, and there's the fragrance of a flower shop. I was inspired by that smell."
