Fairy Tale Fashion Will Come to Life at the Museum at FIT

Depending on who you ask, fashion is a fairy tale, so it makes sense that the Museum at FIT's next exhibition is all about the clothing from storybook fables. Opening January 15th and organized by assistant museum coordinator Colleen Hill, Fairy Tale Fashion will feature 80 objects placed within "dramatic, fantasy-like settings," the museum said in a statement. Expect to see pieces from Thom Browne, Dolce & Gabbana, Mary Katrantzou, Marchesa, Alexander McQueen, Rick Owens, Prada, Rodarte, and Walter Van Berirendonck in the mix.

Because most fairy tales aren't set in a specific time period, the fashion and illustrations in the main gallery space will be broken into four archetypal settings: forest (Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Rapunzel), castle (Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty), sea (The Little Mermaid, The Swan Maidens) and parallel worlds (Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz).
