See Patrik Ervell's Favorite Picks From His Own Sample Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Patrik Ervell sample sale is stocked full of men's outerwear fit for this gloomy weekend and the upcoming winter weather. The brand recently moved its studio to the spacious and inviting fifth floor of 35 Howard Street, and the steep discounts, as low as 90% off for rare archival styles, one-off runway pieces, and signature sweaters, makes the flights of stairs worth the trek. Bonus: womenswear makes a return to the sale as well!

We stopped by the friends and family preview last night and were lucky enough to have Patrik Ervell himself pick his favorite pieces from the sale, highlighted in the gallery above. We were pleased to see multiple racks of men's shirting ranging from $75 to $90, especially with original prices starting at $220.

At the front of the sale, you are greeted with racks of outerwear ranging from signature style bomber jackets in novelty fabrics to classic peacoats and utilitarian parkas, with prices ranging from $250 to $400 (with retail prices going up to $1,000). Ervell brought back the easy-to-navigate, color-coded hanger system for pricing the menswear. If you don't see a color on the hanger, check the hang tag — some archival and runway pieces are priced as marked.

The womenswear is located in the back corner of the sale to ensure privacy for changing. The majority of the stock is from the fall 2013 collection, including silk floral camo print pieces that still feel current for this season. Prices range from $75 to $150, and our favorites include baby alpaca sweaters for $75 and silk dresses for just $90.

As always, you will find a selection of men's pants, shorts, blazers, and suiting at the sale. We spotted some special pieces throughout the space, including a white jacquard summer suit sure to stun. Menswear sweaters were neatly folded on shelves marked with sizes and all priced at just $90 (originally $295—$375).
