Step Inside Glossier's Offices For Beauty Testing, Roof Deck Chill Hangs

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you're like us, you probably have a friend (or five) that has preached the virtues of Glossier, the beauty launched by Emily Weiss of beauty blog Into The Gloss. But, if you're like us, you might have been hesitant to shell out on products that you can't road-test first. Luckily, they're answering our prayers by inviting New Yorkers into their Soho penthouse headquarters for its Summer Friday at Glossier series (add it to the list of the city's seasonal beauty boom).

Starting this week, you can head to 123 Lafayette Street on Fridays between 11am and 6pm to test out the budding beauty brand's range of products, including a facial mist, a moisturizer, blendable skin tints (all three of these together are known as the Phase One set), a duo of face masks, a salve, and a coconut lip balm. Everything's available to purchase on the spot, and you can also expect appearances from Juice PressPaintbox, and the John Barrett braid bar during its run, which will come to a close on September 11th.

Other highlights? The roof deck overlooking Soho, recreations of Top Shelf posts from the likes of Kate Young, and an art installation by Grace Villamil that features a squishy floor, bean bags, and what can best be described as a trippy interpretation of space. Seriously, go check it all out for yourself.
