The James Jeans Sample Sale Has Two-for-$150 Deals, $50 Denim Jackets

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We stopped by the James Jeans sample sale on Greenwich Street this morning, and the stock includes denim of all styles and sizes for summer and beyond. Pants are arranged by size throughout the space (25 to 32), and try-ons are allowed in the fitting rooms (five pairs at a time, please). Here's the breakdown on pricing.

All regular jeans are $80, or $150 for two. We saw 'Twiggy' jeans in the 'Stonehenge Combat' and 'Venom Slate' prints, as well as 'High Class' skinny jeans. Boyfriend styles are $75 or $140 for two; we liked a pair of 'Neo Beau' jeans in the brand's 'Bohemian' wash. Boyfriend cargos, harem pants, non-denim bottoms and dresses are $90 or two for $170. Men's jeans are $80 a pair, though the sale is certainly focused on women's styles.

Some of the most popular designs are the summer flares and moto jeans ($85 or two for $160). We liked the bright blue 'Shayebel' summer flares for $85 (were $185), and a pair of black-on-black moto jeans. There's a rack just for white denim ($80 per pair, or two for $150), where you'll find skinny jeans with zip-up side pockets, stretchy 'Twiggy Crux' jeans, and ankle-length styles. A "super sale" rack has 'Twiggy' skinnies for $30, or two for $50, but most are a size 25.

Boxes by each table hold denim shorts ($60 or two for $100). We liked a striped pair of slouchy 'Barbados' shorts in particular. There are two racks of jackets and blazers, one with the crowd favorites: a 'Cocoon' jacket in 'Stonehenge' for $125 and the 'Big Jack' denim jacket for $90 (was $224). The other has regular denim jackets and vests for $50, as well as a black cap-sleeve mini jacket for $90 and a relaxed-fit cropped trench for $125. A utility jacket with a ponte sleeve is $125 (was $348).

Two racks in the left hand corner have Top Secret Society apparel, including sample tops, sweaters and bras. Samples are $20, sweaters are $40 and bras are $30 each.

There's back stock for many denim styles, so if you're looking for your size or fit today or tomorrow, just ask the staff. Expect shorts to go quickly, since there are fewer out on the floor to begin with. Head there soon if you're focused on jackets or flared jeans.
