Pearl River Mart's Home Goods Are Half-Off Right Now

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Soho's beloved Pearl River Mart is closing the doors of its three-story shop on Broadway at the end of the year due to rent hikes. Currently, everything in the home goods section of the store is 50% off, and we stopped by this afternoon to fall in love with the half-price furniture, vases, and various exotic pieces in the surprisingly empty shop.

To say that the variety and vastness of Pearl River's home section is impressive is an understatement. The store space is massive and holds everything from benches and dressers to tiny trinkets and wooden bracelets. The statues and ceramic pieces in the store were our favorites, especially the entire section dedicated to buddhas. Specifically, we loved a white ceramic buddha head for $24.75 and a blue ceramic Namaskara buddha for $39.75.

The center of the store is lined with large vases and jars, intricately detailed and in a variety of colors. One of our favorites was a large white vase with blue details for $34.75. Next to it was a larger sea foam-colored jar with dark blue and white detailing for $42.25, and a beautiful umbrella holder with floral designs for $24.75. Smaller vases and glassware were towards the back of the store, with bowls at $8.25, porcelain tea cups for $6.25, and mini vases for $7.75. All were available in a variety of colors.

Intertwined in the larger items on the floor were charming trinkets, like miniature zodiac statues, an entire table of various stones, small incense holders (also a variety of incense sticks and cones), and even a small section of jewelry. We liked the selection of red bracelets, now at $3.75 each. Though the store was quiet, the variety of pieces and super low prices are sure to draw in Soho's frequent shoppers. Stop in to check out the three stories of exotic fare and pick up something to make your apartment feel a little more zen.
