West Chelsea now has two Comme des Garçons stores within a six-minute walk of each other. WWD reports that the Japanese brand has opened its Pocket concept shop today at 112 Tenth Avenue, which previously housed a pop-up shop for its Black collection. Rei Kawakubo so named the concept, first introduced in Tokyo in 2007, as a place for "pocket-sized items that you don't have to think about too much and can buy on a whim."

This is the first freestanding Pocket store in the United States, but it's nothing that local CDG fans haven't seen before: Versions of it are installed in both the Chelsea store and Dover Street Market (seen above), and are typically stocked with items from their Wallet, Play, and Parfum lines. It's meant to mimic "the ease, efficiency and affordability of a convenience store," brand president Adrian Joffe told the paper.
