Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It was way back in 2012 when word first came that Nordstrom would be opening a Manhattan store (a real one, not a Rack) on West 57th Street sometime around 2018. Well, we're smack in the middle of those two dates, and finally, the finer details are beginning to emerge: Buried in a profile of designer Jeffrey Kalinsky, WWD reports that the new Nordstrom flagship—yep, it's still slated for 2018—will maybe include a Jeffrey shop-in-shop.

"He's an important contributor," explained merchandising president Pete Nordstrom, referring to the department store's hiring of Kalinsky to establish relationships with luxury designers like Saint Laurent, Prada, and Céline. Nordstrom currently owns a 90% stake in the Jeffrey brand. "We would consider opening a Jeffrey boutique inside the New York store," he added. "We've done some things with the Jeffrey label before and we may do more... The door is completely wide open."

A possible Jeffrey boutique isn't the only thing we know about the forthcoming store: Most importantly, it'll be located inside what will be not only the tallest tower in New York City, but the tallest building in the entire country—kind of. While it'll have the tallest roof out of any building, its spire won't exceed the height of One World Trade Center.

Also of note: Back in 2012, Pete Nordstrom promised that it'd be "the best Nordstrom store there is," and that the store could have "multiple different shopping environments" due to the tremendous amount of space available. There we have it: One new nugget, and finally, confirmation that the 2018 date is still the one to watch.
