Beloved Williamsburg Boutique Jumelle Is Closing

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Nine years ago, Bedford Avenue was a different beast: Jumelle had just become one of the first boutiques in the neighborhood to sell brands like Rachel Comey, Steven Alan, APC, and Alexander Wang. But in an announcement made last week, owner Candice Waldron said, "Much like the neighborhood we have called home for close to a decade, we are ready for transition." Within the next two week, the boutique will close.

But it's not all bad news: Waldron assures us that the store's e-commerce site will relaunch late this summer, and that she's currently working on a new location. What's more, Jumelle is bringing back one of their notoriously great sales for the store's final days, where you'll likely find deals on Dieppa Restrepo, Apiece Apart, Isabel Marant, Electric Feathers, and more.
