We stopped in the La Perla sample sale preview this morning to check out the high-end lingerie and swimwear on sale at 260 Fifth Avenue, and found plenty of current-season swimsuits, bras, and panties in all sorts of shapes and pretty colors. Photos weren't allowed, so check the gallery above for examples of the styles and items we saw.
Along the lefthand wall when you enter is swimwear, with one-pieces for $100, bikinis for $90 apiece (so a full suit will cost you $180), coverups for $120, and pareos for $30. Favorites in this section include a scarlet ribbed one-piece (was $862), and a light teal one-piece (was $268). There was also a cobalt bikini top with underwire (was $258), and we loved a four seasons triangle bikini top in granite that was previously $254. Sizes here range from 4 to 12 (we didn't see many 2s).
There was also a section for one-off tops and bottoms from past seasons. We saw a nude beaded bikini top that was $638 (with matching bottoms that were $327) going for $90.
Moving on to lingerie, underwear is divided between La Perla and La Perla Studio styles for pricing. For La Perla, bras are $80, panties and garters are $50, and bodysuits are $80. And with original prices for bras running up to $422, these push-up and lacy styles for $80 is a steal. For sizes, we saw 32A up to a 36D or 34E.
For panties, there was a large section of black styles and another rack of colors, nude, turquoise, purple, and forest green. Originally priced between $128 and $342, they're divided by sizes from XS to L, with smalls making up a large amount of the selection.
There are also shelves at the back with La Perla Basics bra styles (nude and black) for $80 each, running from 34A to 38D. La Perla Studio lingerie has bras for $50, panties and garters for $30, and bodysuits for $80. Bra sizes here also run from 34A to 38D, and there's a much wider selection—18 racks of Studio bras, as opposed to five racks of La Perla.
For sleepwear, there's a similar division between La Perla and Studio styles. La Perla silk gowns, robes, and pajama sets are $130, while chemises and babydolls are $110. We noted a long gown for $130 (was $896) and a beaded dusty purple babydoll for $110 (was $788).
Studio silk gowns, robes, and pajamas are $90, and chemises and babydolls are $80 (were $98—$154). Like the bras, there were also far more Studio babydoll styles and sizes than La Perla's section. There is a rack of extra-small and small sizes, and look in the back lefthand corner to find medium to extra-large, as well as more bodysuits. We saw a gray silk pajama set with pink edging (was $177) for $90, and a blue silk robe with pink edging (was $224). Short non-silk gowns, robes, and PJs are $60 (like a lilac zip hoodie that was $158), and long non-silk gowns, robes, and PJs are $80.
In the back of the room is loungewear, with tee-shirts for $30 (were $76), and pants and shorts for $50 (were $112 to $134). Ready-to-wear items are 75% off retail price. We saw a short black skirt with beige sequins for $242 (was $968), and black and navy caftans for $63 (were $254). There's a section of shelves with bins filled with with lacy and basic panties (sizes extra-small to large), all priced as marked. They range from just $18 up to $98, so it's up to you to get there and sift through for your size and desired price—many were $34 to $44.
There are two small racks and a few shelves for menswear, with pajama sets for $100, underwear in sizes small to extra-large for $90, lounge tops for $120, swimsuits for $30 (mostly in size large), and shorts and lounge pants for $50 each. A table in the center has hosiery for $20, with some tights retailing at $94.
The smaller stock of La Perla items will likely go quickly in the sale, but let's hope markdowns come before they're cleared out. There are no fitting rooms, so it's best to arrive prepared with you general bra and panty size in mind. Check out the Dealfeed below for timing details.
