Hamptons Helicopter Ban Lifted, Much to Matt Lauer's Delight

For Hamptonites who are like, three levels too cool for the Jitney, there used to be the totally NBD option of chartering a helicopter to and from the city. And thanks to a court ruling Friday—definitely the most important court ruling of the day, right?—that privilege has been protected.

After East Hamptons officials tried to restrict aircraft regulations (including curfews and limits on the number of trips per week) in April, a Long Island federal judge ruled Friday that the town couldn't enforce the measures.

Whom will this law affect? Mostly Matt Lauer. Last September, news broke that NBC was paying for the anchor to helicopter to the Today show studio from his Hamptons estate and back.
