After 50 Years, Off Broadway Boutique Takes Its Final Bow

For 50 years, Upper West Siders knew exactly where to go for leopard-print turbans, extravagant costume jewelry, and caftans that look like something straight out of Elizabeth Taylor's closet. But after the death of its owner, Lynn Dell Cohen, Off Broadway is now closing.

West Side Rag reports that the clothing and accessories boutique is exiting 72nd Street with a 75% off sale, which even includes store fixtures like mannequins and display cases. The current owners told the neighborhood site the following:

"On behalf of the Cohen family as well as the staff and management of Off Broadway Boutique, we would like to thank each and every one of our wonderful customers, from the A-listers of Hollywood to the working girl on the Z train wanting to look great on a budget, your support has kept us going for five decades."

If you're not familiar with the late Lynn Dell Cohen, watch her clip from the documentary Advanced Style below, in which she fires off wonderful quips like, "Fashion says 'me too,' and style says 'only me'" and "I am dressed up for the theater of my life every day," and perhaps the most poignant of all, "I'm so thrilled being a woman."
