Prices at This Tracy Reese Sample Sale Are Way Cheaper Than the Last One (Update)

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Tracy Reese sample sale sale begins this morning in Midtown at 264 West 40th Street, and when we attended the preview last night, we found an impressive amount of current season, runway, and previous fall collection dresses, including the red and black floral dress that Michelle Obama wore to the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington in 2013. There's also a healthy selection of tops, pants, skirts, sweaters, and coats in a wide range of sizes.

Above all of the clothing racks — there's separate ones for the main Tracy Reese line and the diffusion Plenty by Tracy Reese collection — are price lists, and repeat customers will be happy to find significant decreases from the last sale. For Tracy Reese, dresses are $95; tops, pants, and skirts are $50; and coats are $125. Plenty by Tracy Reese's prices are even lower: Dresses are $50; tops, pants, and skirts are $40; and coats are $95.

You'll find the majority of dresses and skirts along the left side of the main showroom. Pants and coats are in the back, with the evening and runway dresses (including that FLOTUS one) on the right side of the room. In the center, you'll find a table of folded sweaters sitting alongside scarves, notebooks, and jeweled clutches. There are two overflow rooms with the racks of Plenty by Tracy Reese, plus space for makeshift dressing rooms.

You'll take the elevator to the 8th floor to find Suite 802 when you get to the building, and be prepared to check your bag and coat. Sales associates assured us that they would be restocking the merchandise selection through Thursday, so don't stress if you can't make it right away. Click into the slideshow above to see the designer's signature bright prints that we particularly liked this time around, and check of the Dealfeed below for the sale's date and times.

Update: Prices listed here reflect the friends and family pricing at Monday's preview, which was subsequently extended to the public. Different prices were listed at the sale earlier this morning, but the ones posted here are current and will be honored through at least Wednesday afternoon. "We decided everyone is a friend and part of the TR family," a brand representative explained of the price changes. We'll let you know if there are any further changes before it ends on Thursday evening.
