Whoa, this is huge: Target just announced that it will open at 255 Greenwich Street in October of next year. This Tribeca location, its second in Manhattan — the other one's up in East Harlem — will have what it's calling a "flexible store design," offering shoppers smaller, commuter-friendly packaging (think single rolls of paper towels rather than giant 12-packs), furniture that will fit in tiny apartments, plus grab-and-go items like sandwiches, salads, beverages and snacks.

Basically, this store is every New Yorker's dream come true. And if it sounds similar to the City Target you've been hearing about for Downtown Brooklyn...well, it kind of is, except that Target's not going to call them that anymore. Shoppers will also find conveniences like pick-up for online orders, and a full-service pharmacy, as well as men's, women's, and kids apparel and shoes selections (and, hopefully, whatever the next designer collaboration is).

"We're thrilled to have found this terrific location in lower Manhattan, and we can't wait to be part of the Tribeca neighborhood," said Anne Stanchfield, vice president, flexible formats and localization at Target.

We're guessing a good portion of New Yorkers feel similarly.
