Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Why does Christian Louboutin now have two building numbers in its Upper East Side address? Well, because it's basically now two separate stores. The luxury label is debuting its new look at 965-967 Madison Avenue today, which, at nearly double the size of its previous imprint at 4,400 square feet, allows for separate men's and women's shopping areas with completely different vibes.

Starting on the women's side, the store's plush red carpeting matches the designer's signature red soles that you'll find in luxury cubbies along the walls. Playful styles with blinged-out hearts and butterflies sit under masks that Louboutin brought back from his Mexican travels, which are next to glass-encased evening clutches that might as well be in a museum exhibit. Nearby, mannequin hands hold up the Nude Collection, marking the first time that they're available in a New York City store.

Toward the back, you'll find one of two colorful patchwork couches shaped like a sombrero, near a wall displaying handbags with on-trend fringe and on-brand studs. On the other side is an homage to the brand's nail polish, with its spiky bottles emulating the city skyline (sorry, no lipstick in sight).

Cross through a small opening flanked by a metal gate (another Louboutin travel treasure) to enter the men's side, where red is replaced with shades of slate and charcoal. The motif here is all about diamonds, whether they're criss-crossed along a display or literally popping out of the wall. And, like any good men's store, there's plenty of comfortable seating.

Pop by the Upper East Side store to take a look for yourself, and especially take note of the kicky window display featuring larger-than-life weights and kettlebells (reminder: five-inch stilettos are not the best gym shoes).
