When we arrived at the preview for the Pamela Love sample sale — open to the public today as of noon — we were greeted by a small group of the jewelry brand's friends and family, Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" in the background, and a surprise appearance by the designer herself, who was milling around and making sure that everyone was finding what they were looking for.
Not that that was a problem — this sale is extremely well-organized. After checking your bags, you'll find hand pieces on your far right and then (moving counter-clockwise) necklaces, rings, and bracelets. Finally, there's a separate station for the higher-price point pieces, most of which are above $150.
Within each jewelry category, items are split up into labeled bins depending on price. But in case things get shifted around, each item is in a color-coded baggie that reflects its price. Orange stickers represent $10 items, yellow is $25, blue is $50, purple is $75, pink is $100, green is $150, and black is $200 and up.
At the outset, it seemed like chokers, collars, and neckwear in general were the most sought-after items, with prices starting as low as $25 for a silver collar tipped with Love's signature arrowheads. Though we only saw one bin of $10 pieces (single- and double-finger skull rings), we were impressed with how many items we were able to find at the $25 price point.
While some of these were small and simple — arrowhead studs, pyramid rings — many of them weren't, like the intricate Maia ring in brass. In fact, there is a good representation of $25 items in every category. The exception to that is in hand pieces, which mostly seemed to hover in the $50—$75 range. Here, you'll find the oculus style with an attached ring and bracelet for $50, while daintier options with a chain and serpent are going for $75.
We were also surprised to see some of Love's most popular items available, like the moonphase ear jacket ($150). For buzzy pieces like these, the discounts are naturally less impressive than they are on other items. The same goes for the only large arrowhead item we saw, a hand piece that was far and away the sale's most expensive item at $800.
We did notice a fair number of repeat items from previous sales, like sword rings ($100), pentagram cuffs ($25), double-finger spike rings ($25), plus all those skull rings in the $10 bin, but there are also a number of more current options from the celestial-inspired collection. That includes moon stone necklaces ($100) and double-finger Luna reveal rings ($75), some of which are still available at full price on the Pamela Love website.
While leaving, we encountered a short line of shoppers waiting to be admitted to the sale's public hours, but fewer people than we remember from seasons past. As a result, we think this is definitely a sale worth dropping into for fans of the brand. Check out the Dealfeed below for more details.
