Brooklyn Boulders' Forthcoming Manhattan Location to Resemble 'Bat Cave'

The giant Gowanus warehouse where Brooklyn goes to get its rock-climbing fix is expanding: In August, Brooklyn Boulders will open a Long Island City outpost, and sometime soon, it'll come to Manhattan, too.

In an interview with Crain's, owner Lance Pinn reveals that alongside the previously announced LIC space, which will feature crack walls, cave climbing, a three-wall chimney, workspaces for laptop users, a hidden speakeasy, and spaces for barbecues and dance parties, there's another location in the works for Manhattan's Pier 57 off West 15th Street. "It's going to look like the Bat Cave," Pinn said. As for the rest of the country, Pinn hopes to have 30 locations within the next five years, making it the U.S.'s largest rock-climbing gym chain.
