Yes! Lululemon Is Opening Its First US 'Lab' In Noho

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Lululemon superfans, you might want to sit down for this one: Word has it that the eleventh Manhattan location won't just be a regular store, it'll be a lab. What does this mean, exactly? For starters, the single existing iteration is in its home city of Vancouver, so it'll be the first Lululemon Lab to come to the U.S. More importantly, it'll be a home for the design-oriented arm of the brand, made of limited-edition "experimental" merchandise similar to what you'd find in a high-end athleisure concept shop.

Fan blog Lululemon Addict reports that there's still no word on how the NYC location will differentiate itself (or not) from the Vancouver original, but inside the 6,400-square-foot space, you can expect cool collabs like the recent one with Ghanaian designer Osei-Duro, or the black-and-white heavy collection with Nocturnal Workshop.

As we previously reported, it'll be taking over the former home of Eva Scrivo salon, which is moving to a second-floor space on Fifth Avenue in Flatiron sometime this November — which could be a hint as to when the Lululemon Lab will open.
