You may know Frida Kahlo for her self portraits, her high-profile affairs (Josephine Baker, Isamu Noguchi), or her very 2015 bold brows—but she was also a serious horticulturist, as the New York Botanical Garden has set out to demonstrate in its new exhibition, "Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life." Combining a selection of the artist's plant-centric paintings with a recreation of her ‘30s Mexico City garden, the show's opening day drew a crowd with wardrobes as colorful as a Kahlo canvas.
