A Cat Café Is Opening in Brooklyn This Weekend

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Oh hey, what are you doing this weekend? Hitting up a few sample sales? Taking one last beach trip? Cancel it. Starting this weekend, Brooklyn is getting its very own cat café, which means you can now spend this Saturday and Sunday doing absolutely nothing besides petting kittens.

The Cat's Meow, sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, will bring a selection of adoptable cats and treats from The Brooklyn Sweet Spot to Fort Greene this weekend and until October 24th. It's a pretty great deal at $5 per half-hour, considering cats are objectively the most glorious and perfect creatures on earth. Not convinced? Consider our liveblog of the original Manhattan cat café as a sampling of what you can expect.
