H&M Is Getting Rid of One of Its Herald Square Stores

If you've been to Herald Square lately, you may have thought, "Hm, there really are an awful lot of H&M stores in this one-block radius." You're not alone—when the retailer opened its new flagship—its largest ever to date—we were surprised to hear that they'd be keeping the existing store across the street. But now, it appears, H&M has discovered that once you build a giant, shiny new store across from an old, smaller one, there's going to be a natural survival-of-the-fittest situation.

The Real Deal reports that the home of the original Herald Square H&M is officially on the market. Once it sells, however, it'll bring H&M's total Manhattan store count down to 11 from 12—still a pretty huge number, if you ask us. The real exciting news? Fancy sister brand COS is coming to Midtown!
