Brookfield Place Won't Get a Calypso St. Barth Store After All

It's been nearly two and a half years since Calypso St. Barth announced that it would be among the fashionable retailers flocking downtown to Brookfield Place, but as it turns out, the high-end brand is definitely not opening in the 1,400-square foot space anymore. Tribeca Citizen noticed that what was once Calypso signage in the contemporary section of the high-end shopping center had converted to just a Calypso shade of pink, and now it just bears mall's leasing info signage.

This isn't the Financial District shopping mecca's first causality — Posman Books closed its Brookfield Place location not even six months after it opened. Now, that space is home to Brookstone.

Brookfield Place still lists Calypso St. Barth as "coming soon" on its website, so of course there's no word yet on what retailer will take over the company's intended space. Whatever it is, it'll be joining new additions like Gucci, Drybar, and two separate Saks Fifth Avenue locations on a roster of high-end boutiques.
