Lanvin's Disappointing Sample Sale Has 'Ugly' Dresses

Every so often, there's a sale that sounds crazy promising — huge luxury brand, 80% off retail prices, and the fact that it's technically "private" — and ends up being a total bummer. From the sounds of it, Lanvin's private showroom event is that sale thi syear.

A Madison Avenue Spy tipster managed to get inside by dropping an employee's name at the door, and found that there was only about one-fifth of the merchandise compared to the spring sample sale. What's more, the stuff that was available was made of likely three- to four-year-old "leftovers," including "ugly and unremarkable" dresses and only 20 styles of shoes.

As for prices, among the only three bag styles, there was a $300 tartan backpack (marked down from $1,500) and gold loafers for $180 (were $890). The only bonus? There was no line as of Sunday afternoon, and just 10 shoppers inside. TL;DR: You're better off at Century 21.
