Brother Vellies' First-Ever Sample Sale Has Insane Footwear Discounts

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We just found out yesterday that Brother Vellies, a 2015 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award winner helmed by Aurora James, is holding its first sample sale at its adorable South Street Seaport District boutique, so we rushed over this morning to check it out. The brand's sustainable production process and bold styles like the "vellie" boot are already something to be coveted, but this sale seals the deal with unique offerings at great prices.

On the right side of the store, you'll find several bins full of those "vellie" boots ($110), plus summer-ready slides ($85) and sandals ($75) for women. For men, there are two bins of boots ($120). We found ourselves falling in love with the lace-up "Congo" sandals in dark denim, splatter-painted slides, and a pair of wear-absolutely-everywhere leopard slides, but be sure to check sizing before you give your heart away — since not every style is available in every size. 7s and 8s had plenty to choose from, and we spotted a decent amount of 11s in the mix, too.

While the sale has a much bigger women's selection, the men are still in for a treat when it comes to the boots bin labeled "singles." In here, you'll find a treasure trove of unique styles, all for $120. An absolute favorite were the men's desert boots from the brand's collaboration with Opening Ceremony. These colorful boots have a dark blue suede toe base and are then embellished with traditional leopard print and a bold and bright swatch of red.

What's in this bin is the last of each style — so once they're gone, they're gone. James told us that they're not available online anymore, so if you spy something in the gallery above that you must have, this is your last chance.

The sale runs through Sunday; For more information, check on the Dealfeed below.
