The James Jeans Sample Sale Stocks Both Trendy Styles and Classic Favorites

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We stopped by 500 Greenwich Street last night to check out the stock for the James Jeans sample sale, which opened to the public at 9am today. There will be plenty of denim styles in a full spread of sizes — that's 24 to 32 — for you to shop, as long as you stop by early.

Jean sizes start with 24 on the right side tables and move counter clockwise around to a table for sizes 30, 31, and 32. A single pair of women's jeans is going for $80, but buy two for a slight discount at $150. The newer moto and novelty styles are one for $90, or two for $170. We liked a pair of Twiggy leggings in cougar for $80 (were $172) and the Dietrich Jeather thigh-high Twiggys for $90 (were $216). Summer colors stacked in a box included skinny turquoise and pink cropped pants for $80 (were $194), as well as a bold pair of boyfriend Barbie combat cargos (were $194).

All other boyfriend cargos are $100, as are dresses. Boyfriend jeans, harem pants — located on a dedicated rack near the entrance — and Joplin sweats are all $75. White jeans are arguably the best deal in the room at $50 for one pair or two for $90, so you should stock up for next spring and summer. Styles included the usual Twiggy, plus the Hunter (straight leg), Zoe (skinny crops), and Dietrich (thigh-high skinny). All denim shorts and skirts are $40 for one or two for $75, though most sizes ran small (24/25).

In other apparel, a long rack on the right side of the room had jackets, blazers, and a few other items. Blazers and non-denim jackets are one for $175 or two for $300. Corduroy and velvet pants (we didn't see many of these) are $60 each, or two for $100. Shirts and sweaters are $35 each, denim shirts and jackets are $60, and vests are $50. We had our eye on a great army green Utility Jacket and a tuxedo jacket in ivory black ponte for $175 (was $304). A good basic double breasted straight blazer was also $175, and a denim moto style was just $60.

The sale ends Saturday afternoon, and you can expect popular sizes and styles to be snatched up quickly. Check out the Dealfeed below for more information.
