Now that Blink Fitness has saturated most of Manhattan, the budget gym is putting its focus on the outer boroughs. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Equinox spinoff is coming to the Brooklyn Lyceum, a former bath house that was originally supposed to be converted into condos. The gym is leasing all 16,700 square feet available and plans to open no earlier than a year from now.

The Lyceum at 227 4th Avenue, right off the Union Street stop on the R train, first opened in 1910 but hasn't been used as a bathhouse since the 1930s, according to the paper. The three-story building was converted to a gymnasium and in recent years has been used as an event space.

"When this opportunity came up to go into a historic building, a building residents clearly are aware of," Bill Miller, Blink's vice president of real estate, told WSJ, "we jumped all over it." Blink already has 20 locations open in the five boroughs and, including this location, at least six more in the works.

Now, the only question that remains is where sister gyms Equinox and Soulcycle will pop up in this vicinity.
