Not only is sample sale season is full swing, but it's also that glorious time of year when seasonal merchandise at the city's fanciest department stores suddenly gets cheaper. Plan to take a trip to midtown this weekend, because Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, and Saks are all celebrating spring with sales.
Madison Avenue Spy has a handy cheat sheet for what you can expect to find there. In short, Bergdorfs has 40% off clothing, menswear, and children's apparel, 33% off handbags, and 30% off shoes. Barneys has 40% off everything, and Saks has 40% off clothing and menswear, and 30% off shoes, handbags, and children's apparel.
But if you're looking for something specific, note that none of the stores have started discounts on Chanel or Louboutin, and while Barneys hasn't discounted Valentino just yet, Saks has marked-down rainbow Rock Studs. Meanwhile, Bergdorfs has the best variety of Chloe apparel and bags, so if you missed the sample sale, be sure to make that your next stop.
