Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It's a case of "here today, gone tomorrow" for Posman Books at Brookfield Place. It came as somewhat of a surprise when the indie bookstore popped up on the list of stores coming to Fidi's luxury mall last year, and it's equally surprising that it's bowing out less than six months after opening. A tipster told Tribeca Citizen that the store was open last Thursday, but that by Saturday a sign had appeared that read:

Posman Books at Brookfield Place is closed. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Please stop by our other locations: Rockefeller Center, Chelsea Market

This isn't the only store that the bookseller has lost recently — they were forced out of Grand Central at the end of last year to make room for a pedestrian walkway. "It's very sad for the whole Grand Central community," Posman vice president Robert Fader said at the time. Tribeca Citizen has reached out for comment on this location but has yet to hear back.

A closure is going against the grain for Brookfield Place, which has just kept opening moredoors since it debuted in March. Coming up: Drybar, the Hermès perfumerie, and (of course) Saks Fifth Avenue.
