Brookstone Is Taking Posman Books's Old Spot at Brookfield Place

via

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The gaping space left in the corner of Brookfield Place's upper level when Posman Books exited after just six months will soon be home to Brookstone, according to a tipster who wrote to Tribeca Citizen. The local bookseller was an unexpected name in a litany of brands both high-end (Salvatore Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta, Gucci) and contemporary (Michael Kors, Theory, J. Crew), but unfortunately couldn't stick around very long. It's still operating its Chelsea Market and Rockefeller Center locations (but not Grand Central).

If there's a silver lining to this, it's that Brookfield doesn't quite offer anything like Brookstone has just yet — and their names sound similar, too, so it'll be easy to remember that it's there. There's no word on when the shop will open just yet, but Brookfield can add it to the list of stores that have yet to debut, like Drybar and Saks Fifth Avenue; Club Monaco's women's store just opened here, and the neighborhood blog says that the men's store will open "this week."
