16 Thanksgiving Workouts and Black Friday Fitness Deals to Incinerate All the Calories

Sweat hard, eat hard, then sweat hard again.

Oh sweet, sweet Thanksgiving. You get the day off of work, have no responsibility besides cooking (or taste-testing!), and the most cult-status thing on TV is a gigantic parade. You could spin or squat at plenty of gyms and studios on Thanksgiving Day, but this is a holiday! You wouldn't eat regular sweet potatoes at this dinner table, so why would you do a plain ol' workout beforehand?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We scoured the New York fitness scene to find the best deals, craziest classes, and good-luck-surviving-that challenges that'll balance out whatever you plan to pile on your plate over the holiday weekend, and even set you up for success for the next couple months with some good Black Friday deals. Hit up one or two of these bad boys and wear your tight pants to the dinner table — we dare you.

DavidBartonGym at Limelight

Thanksgiving Day

DavidBartonGym — All NYC locations will offer CARVED, an hour-long body weight workout that will offset your seconds and thirds of pumpkin pie before you even consume it. Even better than whipped cream topping is that non-members are invited to attend for free; call 877-579-1300 or click here to sign up.

Classes at 9am and 11am at all branches. Locations in Astor Place, Chelsea, West Village, and UES.

Barre3 — Until Thanksgiving Day, clients can bring in three cans of food for donation to the Food Bank for New York City in exchange for one free hour-long class.

Classes offered on Thanksgiving at 6am, 7:15am and 9:45am in the West Village studio; single class retails for $33.

Mile High Run Club — The treadmill temple will be offering its first-annual indoor Turkey Trot, which offers standard Thanksgiving race festivities without cold-weather running gear. This event will follow the HIGH45 class format, but the man and woman who run the farthest will each earn a special prize (joining in on the challenge is optional).

9am at the Noho studio. Classes are $32, or $25 for first-timers.

Dance Body — The best way to sweat out the remnants of Black Wednesday while still feeling like you're at the club is with Dance Body's Turkey Day Meltdown. The 60- and 90-minute dance-and-toning bonanza is offered at multiple locations, meaning parade traffic is no excuse not to attend.

A 60-minute class is offered at 9am at the UES location for $35, and a 90-minute class is offered at 9:30am at the Tribeca and Flatiron locations for $50.

AKT In Motion — Even if you plan on binge-eating your grandma's prized bird, taking AKT's two-hour Turkey Tone could still have you losing weight by the end of the holiday. The first 45 minutes is non-stop toning (in the style of the AKTone class), followed by 75 minutes of calorie-incinerating Happy Hour cardio dance.

Classes offered at 8am at the UES studio and at 9am in Nomad; $74.

Y7 Yoga — The goal of introducing Drake to your family didn't quite pan out this year, but turn those tears into tree poses at one of Y7's three Turkey Burn classes. Go ahead, sweat it all out at the special 90-minute heated class — that's more than enough time to daydream about spending NYE with Drizzy instead.

Classes offered at 11am at Flatiron, Soho, and Williamsburg locations; $22 per class, or $26 with mat and skidless towel.

Peloton — Those who followed our Hottest Trainer competition this year will recognize the woman leading this cycling studio's Turkey Burn ride this season. Robin Arzon is turning it up for 60 hardcore minutes in the morning so that you can dive right into those appetizers by noon.

Class offered at 10:30am at the Flatiron studio; $30 per class, but first-timers are free.

shadowbox

Shadowbox — Slip off those oven mitts in favor of boxing gloves at one of these hour-long Turkey Burn boxing rounds. Two classes are being offered on Thanksgiving morning as well as early on Black Friday, so whether you're energizing for a day of basting or a day of bargain-hunting, you'll be sweaty and all set.

Classes offered at 9:30am and 10:45am on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday in Flatiron; $34 per class.

BLACK FRIDAY: CLASSES

The Monster Cycle — Why would you spend something called Black Friday anywhere other than this health goth headquarters? Channel the present-opening excitement that's around the corner at this badass spin studio, which will be offering surprise theme rides all day long. The playlists — and corresponding music videos — won't be revealed until the start of class, and class and package discounts will be announced the same day, too. It's like Christmas morning, just without all the wrapping paper to clean up!

Surprise themed classes offered at 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, and 12:30pm in Soho;
Classes are $33, or $15 for first-timers.

Chaise Fitness — All three locations will be offering 70-minute cardio and toning Turkey Burnout that'll whip you into post-holiday shape faster than that time your brother got caught for skipping out on post-meal dishes. As a mix of the studio's Reinvention Chair and Cardio Chair classes, it's 15 minutes longer than most — meaning your nap time can totally be extended, too.

Classes offered at 9:30am, 11am, and 12:30pm at Flatiron; 9:30am at the 92Y; and 9:30 at the Chaise Private Studio on the UES. $39 per class; first-timers can purchase a three-class package for $33.

rowing

Courtesy of Row House

Row House — If you're going to eat, like, a thousand calories in one sitting, then burn that amount in the rowing studio's "The 1000-Calorie Row" Black Friday session. This special 75-minute class follows the same format as regular classes, just with more strokes and more floor work (lunges, push-ups, squats, and the like). And if you like what you're doing, take advantage of Row House's Cyber Monday deal, where you can get classes for 30% off between Monday, November 30th and Sunday, December 2nd.

Classes offered in Chelsea at 10:30am and at Columbus Circle at 2:45pm; $40.

BLACK FRIDAY: DEALS

Pure Barre — Discounts at this cult favorite are almost as hard to come by as a spot in a peak-hour class, but the studio is making an exception this Black Friday. All day long, you can buy single classes to use at the Columbus Circle and Union Square locations for just $20 each. And if you're staying in the city this weekend, you can hit up both of those studios to take 40% off your apparel purchase through Monday, too.

Valid only at the Columbus Circle and Union Square locations; classes expire three months after purchase, limit 20 classes per person; single classes retail for $33.

Physique57 — All NYC locations are offering $57 off a 10-class package from Black Friday through Cyber Monday, which we think gives you 57 more reasons to pick up chef-created sides from a fancy schmancy deli (Or Boston Market. Hey, we won't judge!). New video-on-demand clients can also grab subscriptions for just $20 through Monday.

Locations in Soho, UWS, Midtown, and Fidi (as of January 2016); 10-class package retails for $320, online subscriptions retail for $57.

Uplift Studios — Have your pie and eat it too, because the strength-focused studio will be offering 25% off its "Six-Pack." This special offering containing three personal training sessions, three group classes, and enough future sweat equity to guarantee you won't feel like a bowl of gravy after the festivities.

Located in Flatiron; Individual training sessions retail for $115, and individual classes retail for $34.

Real Pilates — If your torso feels a bit mashed potato-y after all the celebrating (no, just us?), this OG pilates spot's sale will do just the trick. When you buy a package of five private sessions, you'll get two classes free for a friend or yourself — a $64 value. They say it's better to give than receive, but hey, this'll fast-track Santa delivering abs to the bottom of your chimney.

Locations in West Soho and Tribeca; Class package retails for $475.

Overthrow New York — If you plan on eating entirely too much this weekend — first, seconds, thirds, all the leftovers, and so on — counteract it with the gritty boxing club's $500 Holiday Knockout Package, which gives you unlimited boxing classes from the time you purchase it until February. It'll be available for purchase through January 5th, but make the most of this deal by picking it up online or at the front desk when it's first available on Black Friday.

Located in Noho.
