Jimmy Choo and Isabel Marant's Plans for 2016 Involve New Madison Avenue Stores

Madison Avenue: never not shuffling. The high-end shopping street will see Isabel Marant debut her second New York City store in the first few months of 2016, while Jimmy Choo is relocating its current boutique just a block south to 699 Madison Avenue, next to Hermès, in April.

Marant's taking the 2,500-square foot ground floor retail space within a townhouse at 23 East 67th Street, according to the real estate firm that negotiated the lease. It was once home to Bottega Veneta — which is doing some shuffling of its own — and includes features like a private rear garden. Meanwhile, Choo's move has to do with a special birthday.

"The US market is at the heart of the 20th anniversary because it's very much a place where the brand was largely developed," CEO Pierre Denis told WWD. And in addition to catering to the uptown crowd, the brand is also returning downtown with a boutique at 111 Greene Street (that address is currently listed as the home of AG Jeans). Choo previously had a West Village store, and this new one is also set to debut in April.

While both Jimmy Choo stores will carry a similar offering of men's and women's items, don't expect one to be a carbon copy of the other. Uptown will be "very institutional, very Madison, very classical in its idea of Jimmy Choo," while downtown will be "a bit more raw," with existing features like exposed pipes jutting out. "I think the two are going to complement each other quite nicely," Denis added.

It remains to be seen how Marant's newest space will differ from the Broome Street boutique that'll be celebrating its sixth anniversary right around when Madison Avenue opens.
