In celebration of Cyber Monday, the Zadig & Voltaire sample sale that kicked off at the sale venue Clothingline on Sunday morning is reducing the prices of all items by an additional 20 percent. We stopped by the Garment District this morning to find prices as low as $36 for men's tee-shirts (so, it's still on the more expensive end).
Women's apparel starts in front of the registers. First up is outerwear, which is going for $200. There's a lot of variety in terms of styles, with tan faux fur jackets (were $520), fuzzy purple coats (were $610), and heavy aviator parkas, with all sizes from XS to L stocked. Blazers ($156) are on the right-hand side, with sizes 36, 38, and 40 taking up most of the racks. Styles of note include a classic black jacket (was $465) and a blue velvet blazer (was $400).
There are tons of sweaters hanging on racks along the left-hand wall and in the middle of the space. Cashmere styles are well-stocked, with cardigans going for $184, pullovers for $136, and tank tops for $104. Non-cashmere pullovers, meanwhile, are $76, and non-cashmere cardigans are $120. We liked a blue alpaca-blend open cardigan with textured detail at the elbows and a printed silk and cashmere cardigan (both $120). A two-tone black and gray cashmere pullover ($136) also caught our eye.
Blouses, pants, and skirts are hanging on racks along the right-hand wall towards the back of the space. Silk tops are $68, silk blouses are $112, non-silk blouses are $76, and sequined or embroidered tops are $120. There are a few colorways of a Western-inspired silk blouse ($112), as well as a flannel with subtle embroidery ($76). One thing to note is that we saw a fair amount of damage on the tops, especially on white styles.
Women's pants are $68, with sizes ranging from 24 to 29. Smaller sizes have the most stock, with lots of 25s, 26s, and 27s to chose from. There's a lot of a black tie-dye jean, and we saw a decent number of plain black jeans as well. Skirts ($68) are mostly mini, corduroy and size 36. A studded leather style ($188) is also well-stocked.
Dresses ($122) are along the back wall by the windows. We noted mostly sweater dresses, including a style with grommets at the hems that is stocked in both black and gray. We liked a printed shirt dress style as well.
Men's apparel is on the right-hand side of the space in the back corner. The selection is disappointing, as there isn't a lot of volume. There are mostly tees and tanks, which are now $36. There is one rack of pants, all corduroy, for $76. We noted a few sport shirts ($68), but they were few and far between. There are also a few styles of outerwear ($184), most notably a blue varsity jacket with white leather sleeves. Sweaters are $88 for wool and $144 for cashmere.
Finally, bags and gloves are behind the register. There are only a few styles of each, and the bags ($124) look outdated. Ankle boots ($168), hats ($36), and scarves ($76) are to the left, and there are more of size 38 than any other from 36 to 41. Hats are $36, and scarves are $76.
There are separate men's and women's fitting rooms for you to check out your potential purchases. The sale runs through Wednesday at 7pm, and it's likely that even more markdowns will come along before then — but there's no guarantee that your size will be left by that time.
