Among the changing retail scene in Brooklyn is the Atlantic Galleria mini-mall rising in Boerum Hill, which Brownstoner reports is well on its way. Taking up a significant portion of this complex will be two chains that'll likely be simultaneously loathed by a community that places an emphasis on its independent businesses and well-attended for offering good services at affordable prices: Blink Fitness and Michael's.

Both the budget gym chain and the craft store have been expanding in the city recently, with Blink locking down its tenth Manhattan location two weeks ago and the typically suburban Michael's opening in Chelsea and East New York last year, adding to its existing Upper West Side location.
