In the Race for Most-Attended Met Exhibit, 'China' Hits a Milestone

It turns out that people are really eager to visit the Met's latest fashion exhibit before its extended run even begins. WWD reports that yesterday afternoon marked the 500,000th visitor to China: Through the Looking Glass, and that lucky guest was awarded with a meet-and-greet with exhibit curator Andrew Bolton and a signed copy of the exhibition's catalogue.

What else does the half-million mark mean? It makes China dangerously close to surpassing the current holder of the Costume Institute's most-visited exhibit, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. The 2011 show, which is also the museum's eighth-most popular of all time, only ran for 15 weeks, compared to China's 19, however, and took place back when the museum was only open for six days a week.
