Apple's Upper East Side Store Gets an Opening Date, Photo Exhibition

While things have been slow-going at their rumored Bedford Avenue store, Apple hasn't wasted any time on the Upper East Side. Signage went up over the windows at 940 Madison Avenue just before the weekend, indicating that their seventh Manhattan outpost will open on June 13th, Mac Rumors noted (despite what the neighbors think of it.)

The location has been added to Apple's list of retail stores with more modest hours than the Fifth Avenue store less than 20 blocks away, closing at 8pm Monday through Saturday and closing at 7pm on Sunday—in line with the businesses that are dealing with the changing landscape in the surrounding blocks.

The doors will open at 9am on that Saturday with a celebration of their photo exhibition entitled "Portraits of the Upper East Side," a series of black and white images from the neighborhood—all shot on the iPhone 6, of course.

Aside from Williamsburg, the tech giant is also working on stores by the World Trade Center and in Queens, neither of which have hard opening dates.
