One Kings Lane Just Opened a Shoppable Showroom in Tribeca

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

One Kings Lane is the latest e-tailer to take its business brick and mortar. The home goods site just set up an appointment-only shoppable studio in its Tribeca office, where customers can test the cushy-ness of the loveseat they've been eyeing online, or decide if that Moroccan wedding blanket is too sparkly or just sparkly enough.

The Studio, as the space is called, is set up like an apartment, with six vignettes—living room, den, bedroom, dining room, kitchen, and foyer—designed around One Kings Lane's exclusive and seasonal styles. While shoppers can't walk out with their purchases, they do receive free shipping on anything they order at The Studio, as well as 10% off all OneKingsLane.com items for the next 30 days. And, as an added bonus, staffers at The Studio are on-hand to come up with complimentary interior design action plans, in the event that picking up a throw pillow leads to a redecorating spiral. To book a time slot, head here.
