John Barrett is changing his luxury department store allegiance. We knew that the sought-after hair stylist was taking his namesake salon to Saks Fifth Avenue — just one facet of the flagship's major renovation plans — and now WWD reports that it'll be leaving Bergdorf Goodman after 20 years.

This doesn't come as a huge surprise: Way before the Saks news, Barrett nabbed a townhouse (where Elizabeth Taylor briefly resided in the 50s) at 10 West 56th Street, a mere two blocks away from Bergdorf's. The 16,000-square foot building will make Barrett's flagship one of the most luxurious in the business, with more than 80 chairs for hair stylists and makeup artists, plus private treatment rooms, a garden terrace, and a ball room.

Though it's unclear at the moment when the townhouse salon will open, Barrett will exit Bergdorf's and enter Saks — renovations aren't scheduled to be completed until mid-2018, but the salon could arrive sooner — the salon has plenty on its plate in the meantime. The Bond Street location is set to open this fall, and a new spot at Westfield World Trade Center is in the works as well.

Undoubtedly, Barrett's clientele, which includes presidential candidate and hair queen Hillary Clinton, will follow the stylist wherever he goes.
