Rizzoli Bookstore's New Location Is Finally Open After More Than a Year

Driely S.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

New York City has been Rizzoli-less for 472 days, but that's about to change at 10:30am. This morning, the book publisher's new store opens at 1133 Broadway, smack in the middle of a burgeoning stretch of Nomad whose neighbors include Maison Kitsuné, Opening Ceremony, Sweetgreen, and fitness spots both new (Doonya) and established (Soulcycle).

And while this location might not have the same classic look (pictured above) as its 57th Street home of 50 years—its gorgeous ceiling was demolished to make way for a hotel, for example—our sister site Curbed NY writes that items like the dark wooden bookshelves, chandeliers, and sconces have made their way to the new space, which boast 18-foot ceilings and a skylight.

Representatives for Rizzoli tell us that they're still putting final touches on the new space even as customers roll in this week; expect a full look inside once everything is complete. In the meantime, let's all be glad that Kim Kardashian's selfie book has a proper home.
