The Pas de Calais Sample Sale Is Full of Minimalistic French Fashion

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you have dreams of traipsing through the fields of Northern France — or want your wardrobe to look like you just walked out of a photo shoot from there — you need to stop by Pas de Calais's sample sale. We visited the brand's Soho store last night to preview the sale before it opens to the public 11am today.

On the lower level, expect to find up to 80% off womenswear from current and past seasons, as well as a selection of menswear from its guys' line Sage de Cret. Current season womenswear was on the last two racks on the right side of the room, and we saw oversized coats, handbags, chunky knits, blouses, and a few pairs of pants. The other three racks are full of outerwear ($100), blazers ($80), dresses ($60), skirts ($40), and blouses ($80) from past collections — click into the gallery above to see a bit of the sale's offering.

In the center of the room are boxes containing damaged items for $10, corduroy pants for $40, and lightweight tops for $20. There is a table with men's and women's sweaters still wrapped in plastic for $60. In the very back, find a selection of women's shoes, including sneakers ($60), flats ($50), ankle, and tall boots ($100). Finally, menswear is on the left and everything is priced as marked, either with an actual price or a sticker that corresponds to the price list posted all over the room.

There isn't more than three pieces (in any sizes) of any one particular style on the racks, and sales associates won't be restocking throughout the sale — so what you see above is pretty much what you get. Check out the Dealfeed below before you head over.
