The Hello Kitty Café Truck Is Parked in Times Square Today

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Visitors to the Hello Kitty pop-up shop in Times Square today will find some sweet treats right outside. The Hello Kitty café truck, making its first appearance on the East Coast — it debuted at Hello Kitty Con last fall — will be parked next to the Sanrio store today from 10am to 8pm (quick, grab a selfie stick!)

To celebrate its arrival, customers will be treated to cookies in the shape of Hello Kitty's face and signature bow, plus macarons, mini cakes, and accessories like water bottles decorated with those bows that you won't be able to find inside the store. The next time we can expect the truck to make an appearance? When the permanent shop arrives in Queens later this year.
