There may not have been a crowd at Genetic Denim's Garment District sample sale when it opened this morning, but if you happen to be a size 26 or 27 in jeans, we recommend carving an hour out of your schedule to stop by.
Jeans are $50 per pair, and there are racks of skinny, boot cut, and straight-leg styles in multiple washes. You'll even find a small selection of jeans in a variety of fabrics, prints and colors—like faded reds, pinks and greens. We spotted several pairs of the "Daphne" skinny crop jean available in "aviation" (light green) and clay (both of which were originally $187). The "Shya" jean is also plentiful, with black, white, and gray versions up for grabs.
The bad news? Sizes are extremely limited. We saw a few pairs of size 27 jeans, but for the most part, the sale is limited to 26's—Genetic Denim's sample size. The stock won't be replenished over the next two days either, so what you see is what you get.
The same goes for the small selection of denim jackets and specialty items ($100), deep v neck t-shirts ($30), and sleeveless sweatshirts ($40) that we saw hiding on the racks. As for shorts, you'll only find seven pairs of cut-offs ($40) available in light rinses and military green.
