NYC's Fashion Set on Their Favorite 2015 Fashion Trends

Michelle Smith, fashion designer, Milly: "I'm digging off-the-shoulder silhouettes and Doc Martens. I'm over the 70s trend."

Karen Lord, Pilates instructor and owner, Karen Lord Pilates Movement: "Favorite is inclusivity: models of all shapes, sizes, colors, genders/transgender models coming into the mainstream — I just sincerely hope it's not a trend. Unique, diverse beauty is so underrepresented in fashion — €”we want a spectrum because, you know, we as humans are a spectrum."

Amy Yee, owner, Maeven Vintage: "Right now I can't get enough of head-to-toe knitwear, bright leather shoes, statement sterling jewelry, off-the-shoulder pieces, turtlenecks and basically everything 70s. I can always do without heels that are too high, it's never a good look for me."

Whitney Pozgay, fashion designer, Whit: "My favorite trend of the year was wide-leg cropped pants. I've been living in a pair from my resort collection. I never got into the fur shoe trend."

Alicia Yoon, owner, Peach and Lily: "Loved the easy, breezy chic look of culottes. I'm all of (almost) 5'2" and was happy that this is a look that even the more petite could pull off relatively easily. On the other hand, even though mom jeans stayed strong through 2015, I never really liked this look for me, so never got behind this trend."

Shira Suveyke, co-president and chief merchant, The Outnet: "My favorite is the luxe-bohemian, free-spirited and eclectic maximalism on display at brands such as Gucci by Alessandro Michele, Valentino, and Anna Sui. My least favorite is leggings as pants."

Kai Avent-deLeon, owner, Sincerely, Tommy: "The exaggerated long sleeves and cut-off hem on jeans. I could do without ripped jeans."

Cynthia Sakai, jewelry designer, Vita Fede: "‘Borrowed from the boys' is always my favorite trend, I love a good jumpsuit or tuxedo. My least favorite trend would have to be fit-and-flare dresses. Fluff and ruffles are just not my thing."

Rebecca Perkins, makeup artist and owner, Rouge: "This year I loved a good jumpsuit (as always), but my least favorite is high heels."

Phillip Salem, owner, Owen: "These new, really cool statement bags, (queue my own plug here), like the Owen ones available online."

Desiree Verdejo, owner, Vivrant Beauty: "I've loved me some flare leg jeans since high school and I definitely enjoyed seeing high-waisted varieties everywhere this year."

"Can we say goodbye to sheer, overly embellished dresses? Any tolerance that I had for the trend was exhausted at this year's Met Ball when almost every uber-celebrity sported the trend."

Jessica Schiffer, senior online editor, V Magazine: "I really enjoyed all of the Victorian-era details popping up this year — they were surprisingly versatile, suiting ladies with style both boyish and ultra-feminine. As for my least favorite... baggy mom jeans are still going strong, and I just don't see the appeal."
