Otte's West Village Clearance Sale: Now Is the Time to Attack

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Otte New York's West Village sale has reduced prices from opening day for its final week, so we checked back into the Greenwich Avenue boutique this afternoon to see what that really means. In short: There's lots of silky basics from their private label for up to 90% off, shelves of designer denim for $79, and summery finds from Kenzo and Rachel Comey for crazy discounts—but there's not much left to look through.

The first thing we noticed when walking in the doors was how much the merchandise selection had thinned out: Overflowing racks and tables are markedly less stuffed. That makes it easy to browse through the color-organized clothing to find steals like white Isabel Marant Etoilé shorts with a tinge of Fourth-of-July-appropriate stitching for $99 (from $255), Otte New York's versatile Julie silk blouse in colors like burgundy and cobalt for $35 (from $281), and an MSGM lace-covered jumpsuit that looks more like a badass pair of overalls for $149 (from $518).

You can find good deals on high-end names, but they're becoming few and far between, with limited sizing to boot. A Derek Lam 10 Crosby flowing halter top in a size zero is $95 (from $295), the same price as a small Rachel Comey printed top (from $391). We also spotted a few Alexander Wang and Vince pieces from last time, but expect to find a lot of Otte stacked between them.

Denim from the likes of J Brand and Citizens of Humanity are now all $79, regardless of price—find it on shelves organized by size (24—30) next to the dressing room, with the most abundant selection in size 27. The shoe selection has been moved to shelves above the racks, and while no styles have been added, they've cut prices down on Joie rose gold sandals and Ancient Greek Sandals jellies in black and hot pink to $79 (from $155 and $156, respectively) and Isabel Marant wedge sneakers to $199 (from $695). Plus, two pairs of Rag + Bone Newbury booties in size 6.5 remain for $149 (from $525).

Lastly, the bins with $35 and $50 merchandise remain, but they're less than half-full now. Be sure to check the prices before you check out, as we noticed two tank tops in the $35 bin were actually marked $30. They've also added an "as is" bin—meaning that these items have damages, most of which are stains—but we didn't see anything that a good dry cleaner or seamstress wouldn't be able to fix.

Planning on making one last go-round here? You'd probably want to come in sooner or later to make sure you'll find what you want in your size, though there's a chance the store could cut prices even further in a last-ditch effort to clear out the store. The sale runs through Friday; check out the Dealfeed below for hours.
