The Yoga Studio That Wants You to Actually Hang Out After Class

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

"A lot of times with yoga, especially in New York City, people go to class and leave," Sky Ting Yoga co-founder Krissy Jones tells Well + Good, "We really wanted to foster a community where people are welcome to hang out and feel comfortable—like any bar or restaurant you like going to."

Located on the airy fourth floor of a Chinatown walk-up, Sky Ting caters to the young and fashion-focused yogis in the neighborhood with minimalist decor (not including Sky, the adorable giraffe who sits in the corner), an area where Benshen natural beauty products and Calvin Klein activewear are sold, and as of next month, food provided by Dimes, the trendy health food restaurant nearby. Classes, ($20), are available to book now, and if you're a new student, you'll even get a full two weeks of unlimited classes for the same price.
