7 Train Extension Is 'Pretty Much Complete,' Will Open in Sept.

New, 27 comments

Mark your calendars: the MTA announced yesterday that the 7 train extension will open by September 13. This means that it would actually open ahead of schedule—or at least ahead of the last schedule the MTA reveal, but waaay behind the original schedule. According to the Daily News, Michael Horodniceanu, the president of MTA Capital Construction, said, "The work is basically, pretty much complete," and that certainly appears to be the case given the latest photos to come out of the station. They are now "running the last tests," and the new leg, which extends to 34th Street and 11th Avenue, is "in compliance of inspections," so maybe it really will open in less than two months. Or maybe this will be just another broken promise from the MTA.
