There's another player joining New York City's upper-upper echelon of rentals—your $500,000 penthouse atop The Pierre hotel, for example, or the Surrey's $450,000 Presidential Suite. And, surprise: It's yet another hotel penthouse. The Lowell Hotel, an Upper East Side gem where Madonna once lived, unveiled its penthouse as an apartment available for long- or short-term stays, for the unbelievable price of $300,000 per month. (According to the Wall Street Journal, the normal rate for hotel guests is a positively budget-minded $14,000 per night.) What does the six-figure rental include? Per the WSJ, renters get "wireless internet, twice-daily turndown service, dog-walking, and packing and unpacking services," in addition to normal hotel amenities like pet room service (yes, really) and dry cleaning. And per the listing, the room itself comes with "four private terraces, three bedrooms, a woodburning [sic] fireplace, hardwood floors, three bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen and a dining conservatory." Which all sounds nice, sure, but is it $300,000 per month of nice? You be the judge.
